MTV Movie Awards and Cravings

I have to be honest, I totally forgot to watch the MTV Movie Awards last night (usually I do just for the clothes and the ridiculousness factor), but I did catch up on the red carpet.  Here are my favorites (followed by some fashion cravings):

Whitney Port in Yigal Azrouel, Miranda Cosgrove in Versus by Versace, Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana: Love, love, love Whitney's Yigal dress.  The nude is very on-trend, the pop of color from the yellow keeps it young and fun and from blending into her skin, and the haphazard pattern adds a touch of whimsy to the basic cut.  The only things I don't like are her shoes.  Ack.  I applaud Miranda Cosgrove for wearing Versus!  Aka Versace a la Christopher Kane.  It's cute, it's age appropriate, it's light and summery but just formal enough.   Absolutely no complaints.  Scarlett looks extremely classy and chic in this Dolce & Gabbana.  It fits perfectly, the color is really flattering, and the lace/waist detail keep it from being too matronly.

Alexander McQueen Crepe Bustier Dress, $3,395 at net-a-porter.com, Alice + Olivia Laurie Tie Dye Dress, $368 at shopbop.com, Juicy Couture Racine Stud Ballet Flats, $225 at shopbop.com: Only Alexander McQueen & co could design a dress with this cut and make it remotely flattering (head over to Net-a-porter and check out the fitted back).  You get the easiness of a waist-less empire-waist Grecian dress but none of the shapelessness.  How Rodarte is this Alice + Olivia dress?  The tie dye, the chiffon, the color palette--it's all very Rodarte-inspired, but significantly cheaper.  These Juicy flats are adorable.  I love the juxtaposition of the soft, ballet flat style and the stud detailing, and the black makes this a great basic, wardrobe staple.

Valentino Rosette-detailed Wool-crepe Dress, $2,490 at net-a-porter.com, T-Bags Beaded Jersey Tank, $205 at net-a-porter.com: And now for a bit of 'designer pieces so gorgeous they make you want to cry,' here's this lovely Valentino sheath.  The cut is very Mad Men, the color is classic Valentino, and that bow on the shoulder adds the perfect girly, modern touch for an overall effect that's just crazy gorgeous.  For some gorgeousness on the significantly cheaper, there's this fab T-Bags tank.  I've been looking for a going-out, glammed up tank in a neutral color with a looser fit/low neckline (lots of specifics, I know) for a while now, and this tank is perfect.  The detailing at the neckline acts as a bib necklace, and adds SO much glam to the basic lines and jersey material, and I like the black band at the hem.  It keeps the detailing at the neck from overwhelming and unbalancing the top.

Markus Lupfer: Oh You Pretty Thing Sweater, $310 at net-a-porter.com, Perfume Bottle Sweater, $325 at net-a-porter.com: I realize that these are both incredibly trite and cliche, but I'm going to be honest, I would totally wear either of these around the house, to Starbucks, on the plane, etc, etc.  They're perfect for lounging around, their basic but flattering fit is incredibly versatile, and I love a dash of sequins for a bit of daytime glamour.  The sweater on the left says 'Oh You Pretty Thing,' again cliche but not something I would be opposed to seeing every time I look in the mirror, to be entirely honest, and the sweater on the right has a perfume bottle.  Tres chic.
