I need the hair from the Fall 2011 Chloe show. It's to die for. First off, that strawberry blonde color is covetable, but it's the combination of straight and wavy that's going on here with the bedhead thrown in. It's an interesting, new take on beachy waves. It looks like they just curled a few sections in the middle of the hair with a center part and lots of volume.

Crystal Renn and the Plus Size Debate
This spread from the recent issue of Harper's Bazaar has caused a lot of controversy in the blogosphere recently. There's been a lot of drama over Crystal's weight fluctuating, and how people think that as a plus size model she needs to stay plus size (especially as the poster child for plus size models).
To which I have to say: who cares if she loses some weight? I think the fact that she looks a lot thinner in these is mostly due to the lighting and camera angles.
I read her autobiography over summer break, and here's what I think happened. She had a severe eating disorder for most of her teenage years, and to help herself get over it she stopped going to the gym, where she would work out obsessively. And she's said recently that she's just been able to start working out in a healthy way again, so I think that might be a big part of it. The girl already has so much speculation over her body as a plus size model. Give her a break.

The Family Circus
This W spread (from the December issue) is fantastic. I love anything that's a twist on a fairy tale, and this is a dark/glam twist on fairy tales. The heavy snow effects only add to the magical quality of it all.
Also I'm really excited for all these fairy tale movies coming out soon. This is the Red Riding Hood trailer (2011).
And I was excited for this, but on rewatching the trailer...hm....Although I do like anything with talking sassy horses.
The Family Circus, shot by Paolo Roversi for W Magazine, featuring Lindsay Wixon, Arizona Muse, and Britt Maren.

Georgia May
My day today went something along the lines of: MIDTERMMIDTERMPAPERPROBLEMSETMIDTERM, so I'm taking it the easy way out, and going to sleep early.
To tide y'all over until tomorrow, here are some pics of Georgia May Jagger (yes, Mick's daughter) in this month's Bazaar. It's the year of the gap teeth, officially. Oh, and it's all shot by Hedi Slimane. Of course.

Lara Stone in W
It's time for Friday inspiration! Woooot. Here's my favorite spread of the month, Lara Stone in W modeling some looks from Versus (the brainchild of Christopher Kane and Versace).
Lara Stone is officially my favorite model, for two reasons. One, she's a really good model--that girl is a chameleon. Two, she has such a unique and interesting look, and she totally works it. The curves and the gap teeth are part of what make her different from the army of clone-like eastern European 16 year olds.
So simple, but so ridiculously chic. She even looks good with no eyebrows. Sigh.

Crazy Can Be Good...Or Very, Very Bad
Today, y'all, I have two crazy pictures to show you. One of them is crazy in a good way, and one of them is crazy in a terrifying way. See if you can guess which is which.
So here's a picture of Jude Law, looking very, very tan, and um...cleavagey. Lots of cleavage, and chest hair, and crazy eyes. Wow. Just wow. I'm sure Sienna Miller is patting herself on the back right now for escaping this little bit of festiveness.
And as a little palette cleanser, here's the first picture of Coco Rocha from her wedding, at a castle in a custom-made Zac Posen dress. I think that might be the prettiest fishtail dress I've ever seen. The skirt is so swishy! Not to mention, Mr. Rocha is pretty darn cute.
And on that note, happy Friday!

Changing Tides?
I thought that the casting of Victoria's Secret models/models with actual bodies in the Louis Vuitton fall show, and the following Louis Vuitton ad campaigns might just be an isolated fab. But Lara Stone, Miranda Kerr, and the like have been snatching up high fashion campaigns left and right since February.
This latest example I find particularly fascinating because it comes from such a high fashion, modern brand: Jil Sander. When I think Jil Sander, I do not think curves at all. But the latest model in the Jil Sander campaign is Miranda Kerr. It's hard to even tell that it's her, but it definitely is. Sidenote: girl just married Orlando Bloom! Major props on locking that down.
Doesn't she look kind of fab? I think that when you aren't distracted by the obviously protruding bones it's much easier to focus on the actual clothes.

Loving: Maroon 5 and Mild Trashiness
I did a lot of wandering around and shopping today, mainly in Santa Monica. Can I just say how much I love the Kitson Outlet? Kitson itself generally annoys me, but this outlet had the biggest selection of embellished sandals EVER, and Butter London/Lippman nail polish for $5, and things like Jill Stuart dresses on serious sale. If you're in LA, I definitely recommend hitting that up. Now, on to the general randomness.
MAC Shadow in Carbon, $14.50 at maccosmetics.com: So MAC and Maroon 5 may not seem all that related, but the new Maroon 5 video for their single, Misery, just came out, and I'm loving the eyeshadow the evil girlfriend is wearing (her fab side-braid is also worth looking at). It's a matte black smudged into the lower lashline and upper lashline, winged out a bit, and smudged some more. The interesting part is there's no shadow on the inner corner and no liner on the waterline. It's a really intense look without piling on too much product. I'm intrigued, and shall be picking up MAC's Carbon to try it out.
Here's the music video just for the heck of it. It's hilarious and the song is great and I think it deserves taking a little work break to watch.
Too Faced Leopard Love Complexion Perfection Kit, $30 at sephora.com, Kenneth Jay Lane Box Link Toggle Bracelet, $88 at shopbop.com: I'm not a big fan of Too Faced, but this Leopard kit is too cute to pass up. First off, it's a great value to get all three of these in the same compact, complete with little instructions/ideas on how to wear them. The shades are Peach Leopard, a bronzy-apricot hue, Candy Leopard, a pop of bright pink, and Pink Leopard, for an illuminating golden/pink glow. I really like that you can get a blush/bronzer/highlighter combo in the same palette, and that the shades have multiple shades in them, so you can get a ton of different colors out of a single palette. I realize this bracelet looks a little boring just lying there, but on the wrist it basically looks like a ton of stacked bangles. Except without the noise and annoyingness of wearing a stack of bangles. It's a great way to make a statement, but it's also not so in your face that you can't wear it all the time.
Venomous Villains for MAC: More pictures of Venomous Villains! I think the packaging is a little better than I expected from the initial pictures, and I'm still loving the Evil Queen and Maleficent. And check out that purple polish with the teal duochrome! It needs to be on my nails. Right now. It's a little evil and murky looking, but not so crazy that it's not appropriate to wear to work, etc. I just wish it had the fun packaging too. :(
Wildfox Couture: Peace Racer Tank, $32.99 at ebay.com, Peace & Love Tee, $29.99 at ebay.com, Valley Girl Tee, $32.99 at ebay.com: I have a teensy confession to make. Every so often, and not in public, I like to dress just a teensy bit trashy. As in annoying logo tees and Victoria's Secret sweats and hoodies. At my trip to Kitson's Outlet today (OMG love), I saw some Wildfox Couture tees. And yes, they are totally trashy in a Miley Cyrus sort of way, but they're also kind of adorable and somewhat affordable if found via eBay. The peace sign tees are just your general hippie cuteness, but I love that Valley Girl tee. So many people at school in Boston talk about the California accent and how it's that we say "like" and "omigod" all the time. Which may be true, but I think it's a heck of a lot better than a Boston accent. There. I said it.
Alessandra Ambrosio for Moschino: I think it's really interesting that following Louis Vuitton's Fall show with a bunch of Victoria's Secret models, a bunch of Victoria's Secret models pop up in Fall campaigns. I love it, I just hope that it lasts. Alessandra as a pirate? I'll take that any day over Sasha in the same poses and the same styling. It's jaunty, it makes a statement, it's fresh, and I like it. I call this one a winner.
Chanel Iman for The Block Summer 2010: And for a little summer inspiration, here's a lovely shoot with Chanel Iman for The Block (no idea what that is, gonna be honest). Her pixie-ish haircut and '60s liner work perfectly with the rustic setting and ulta-glam/edgy clothes. It's just dreamy.

Fall 2010 Couture and FIFA!
So I don't think I've shared this on the blog before, but I am a HUGE FIFA fan. Like to a nerdy level. And my fave team of all time? Spain! Spain that's going to the final match! That's what's up. I know. I'm not patriotic. My top three teams are Spain, Germany, and England. Bad Megan.
FIFA Espana Sweatshirt, $39.99 at store-na.fifa.com: Since this FIFA sweatshirt is on sale and I have a 20% discount code to the store...I kinda want to get it. But it only comes in men's sizes. But it says FIFA 2010 South Africa on the back and again, LOVE SPAIN. So conflicted. Gah. Buy sweatshirt. Buy makeup. Sweatshirt. Makeup. Brain explodes.
And now for the actual fashion parts.
Scarlett Johansson for Mango: I am so glad the knee-length, fit and flare dresses from Louis Vuitton are inspiring high street stores! It's a really flattering, slightly retro cut that is right up my alley. If only there were Mango stores in SoCal. Also, ScarJo looks gorge, no? Love the smudgy cat-eye makeup.
Versace Fall 2010 Campaign: This Versace campaign is stunning. STUNNING. I love the messy, slightly wavy hair, I love the black and white photography combined with the black and white clothes, and I love that this generally over-the-top, sexy brand went so minimalist for their campaign. I'd wear every single thing in this spread. Especially those center gowns--dang!
Leighton Meester, Halston Heritage Pleated Flower Dress, $385 at shopbop.com: Finally! Leighton Meester has stepped away from the "I wanna be a pop star" wardrobe trailer and worn something totally adorable! My favorite part: those platform Louboutins. Hot damn. I've never, ever liked booties, but those are some hot shoes. As for this dress, um, it's Halston. For less than $400. HALSTON. I don't care if SJP is involved in designing this line, it's still Halston and the epitome of minimalist, '70s chic, and I want to wear it around all summer with tousled hair and nude lipstick and general fabulousness.
Ah, Couture Fashion week. I used to totally discount it because there was no way I'd ever be able to buy or even see in person any of the pieces, but I've warmed up to it. I feel like it's the only time designers really create clothes that are purely inspirational, and not constrained by the idea of them having to be consumer/market friendly. Here are some of my favorite looks:
Givenchy 2010 Couture, Dior 2010 Couture: Picture that Givenchy dress minus the jacket and the white tights. It's like Marchesa and McQueen had a baby that was a big fan of Rodarte, no? It's a little creepy, a little sci-fi, a little bridal, and totally elegant. That half-gown silhouette is really starting to grow on me. Dior Couture is always lovely. This purple floral dress manages to be modern, preppy, jaunty, sexy, and demure all at the same time. Talk about multi-tasking. That pop of red at the waist is the perfect contrast to all those florals.
Dior 2010 Couture, Chanel 2010 Couture: I don't think I need to explain the gorgeousness of that gown. If someone wears it on a red carpet I may actually die. In a good way, of course. I'm not at all a fun of suits, or even skirt suits, but this little Chanel number...if you're going to wear a skirt suit, wear one like this. The proportions are perfect, and the tight skirt, cuffs, and messy hair keep this look modern and sexy instead of staid.
Chanel 2010 Couture: I love Karl's riffs on the Chanel themes. This dress is made up of tiny pearls. Pearls! That could go very slutty very quickly, but here it looks so chic and so polished. The cutouts covered with strings of pearls are literally perfection. And pairing that dress with those edgy, urban cuffs--genius. And then this second gown is very inspired by the Chanel Russian collections (you know Karl loves a good Russian aristocracy reference). I really love this gown. The skirt is so demure, and then you get to the shoulder cutouts and it goes a little sex kitten, and the juxtaposition of the sequins and the florals is pitch perfect.
Chanel 2010 Couture beauty/details: This is my ideal hair. Longish, straight with a hint of a wave, tousled and messy, but not sloppy looking. I would do terrible things to get the brunette version of this hair. Terrible. This look has also possibly converted me to the red lipstick/no eyemakeup look, and that's coming from a girl who's never willing worn any sort of lipstick EVER. But that hair. Oy ve. I want to say lots of dry shampoo was used, but her hair still has a sheen to it...any ideas? These bracelets are killing me. It's like a Verdura cuff had a fling with some pearls and a little chain, and this is the love child. It's deconstructed, elegant, chic, edgy, basically perfection rolled into one gigantic, amazing, no doubt insanely expensive piece of jewelry. I'm not at all a fan of mid-calf boots, but that is one hot boot. It has a bit of a Marie Antoinette/Versailles vibe, and basically looks completely over-the-top and awesome. How cute would those be with a pair of thin, dark wash jeans and a basic, drapey white tee?
